UNC Asheville sponsors and promotes many programs and activities that frequently bring minors on to our campus, such as academic programs (on- and off-campus), athletic programs and camps, and summer camps. These important undertakings, which further our University’s mission, also entail a collective responsibility to ensure the care and safety of our minor guests. We all need to act immediately when we reasonably suspect a youth may be at risk.

The University policy on Protection of Minors on Campus establishes requirements for University-Sponsored or -Affiliated and non-University-Run Programs or Activities operating on campus. All programs or activities involving minors must meet the basic policy requirements in the administration of the program to be approved. These requirements include:

Program Administrators must also ensure the Program or Activity adheres to established standards and guidelines for youth protection, including but not limited to:

  • Program Staff Code of Conduct
  • Minor Participant Code of Conduct
  • Medical Treatment and Emergency Response Procedures
